Any way to control Wolf and Subzero brand appliances
#1
Wolf and Subzero brand appliances are compatible with Cestron and Savant automation systems. Is there any way to tie it into CQC?

Thanks

Do they have a published control interface?

Use that support link there to contact them and tell them you are a customer and you use another automation system and would like to know if they can provide your automation system vendor with the information necessary to integrate with their products. See what they say.

Sent them an email, never heard back. Being that it is IP, shouldn't we able to sniff and capture what is going on?

That's usually not optimal. If you don't know why it is the way it is, it's very easy to make assumptions that get easily broken if they make any changes to the protocol. I've gotten very iffy on supporting products that don't want to be supported. There are too many others that do, and that don't involve a lot of wasted time trying to work around the lack of documentation.

Just got off the phone with them. The person i spoke to said that they wouldnt be able to provide any API, but it is compatible with Control4, Savant and Crestron. Is there a way to use one of those controller as a gateway to communicate with the device?

Thank you

That's sort of anti-competitive. Clearly it has an API if those other systems can control it. They are just choosing not to provide the API to anyone else, as though only those companies are worthy. Did you make it clear it wasn't just for you but for a legitimate automation system vendor that you are a customer of?

I suppose one could use one of those systems as an indirect gateway, but it would be expensive and require a lot of exploration to make it work. Likely it would require writing code on one of those systems to act as an intermediary which would mean learning one of those systems well enough to do that. That's a big chunk to bite off.

I looked into this after seeing this thread and found that they were available here as wwll.

Its a shame they are being so short sighted about this - it would be more beneficial to them to open it up to everyone instead of closed shop. Why do so many companies think they are needing to go down this path.

Try and force their hand a bit - that you wont buy unless the API is forthcoming. Nothing to lose
