Hi All;
I am attempting to test out Plex Server and the Plex Repository driver. I am stumbling over the "Client" setup. There really is not a client for windows 10, is there? What am I missing? The driver is requesting the client name, and I tried entering the name of the server machine, where the Plex server (and CQC ) is running. Any guidance will be appreciated.
Thanks,

The client driver is only for control Plex clients. I assume you've already installed the Plex Server side driver? If not, that's what you want.
There are various Plex clients, some software and some hardware. The client driver really only is appropriate for the 'fixed' ones, not for portable clients. So either a hardware player (like the Roku 3) or their own HT application running on a theater PC or something like that.

Now I get it; Never easy. Looks like if I want Plex as a repository and metadata source that I need something like a Roku player. I thought that there may have been a soft client/player available, but that does not appear to be the case.
I am really trying to replicate Album Art and Meta, FanArt and Lyrics. Plex does all of that.
Thanks,

There is a software player. Their own "Home Theater" app is a PC based Plex player that supports the client control interface required for our driver.
It is the case that the Plex repo driver can only work with Plex media players, since they are the only ones that know how to get data from Plex. Our Plex repo works like any other and let's you browse Plex metadata in CQC. But when CQC tells the the player to play something, they have to know how to get to the media and play it, and only Plex clients understand how to do that.

Thanks and I will try that. I loaded is quickly and it does not like something and will not run. I will get that running on my Theater Media PC and maybe that is a good solution.

I think you have to enable external control on the player itself. And, as discussed on the Plex media player driver page, you actually give it the address of the server, because all control really goes through that. You then give it the name of the client. But I think that the client has a setting for enabling the control interface.

Another item that is coming into play is the Plex App for win10. It is a native app that seems to contain many of the Home Theater app stuff. It evens asks if you want external control and forces you to enter a name. The issue is that the driver will not pick that up. I unfortunately may not have an option on Win10 other than that windows app.

You are talking about the Plex Home Theater program from Plex themselves, right? It should be fine, unless they've done something stupid to break it. That may be the case of course, since they are another of those companies for whom automation integration is just an afterthought.

Yes. That is correct. I can not get through the config after it installed. The Windows 10 app for Plex runs great however. I am wondering if the app is preventing the home theater Plex program from configuring? I will play more this weekend. First will be to uninstall the win 10 app and try again.
