As a group that has an interest in this area (IoT), we are going to get bitten by this very quickly. Its going to take some effort to secure our systems from the poorly designed IoT manufacturers.

Steve Gibson (Security Now Podcast) recently did an episode around how to secure the network by using three routers. A way to protect against exactly this type of device and the insecurities that these cheap devices introduce into your network - worth a listen as it applies to us all here.

If you have two, then you should point them at each other. Then if someone hacks them their server (or maybe the universe?) will explode.
