connecting a zWave relay
#1
I just found this zWave relay super cheap. ($25). Its basically a 3 relay setup.

I'm wondering what the best way would be to bring this under CQC control. I only need to send it a command. Should I ask Dean to add as a zWave type? See if it works with ST and integrate via IFTTT?

The usage would be integration with a 12V DC motor, for things like motorized drapes. It looks like the zWave relay can handle a 12V current (although I don't know how many amps). I'm looking around at DIY curtain kits, there appears to be several 12V powered ones, so I might be able to DIY a zWave curtain controller for <$200.

Furthermore, if I can figure out how to get this to work, I could also use it for anything where a motor would be useful. IE, open/close the bathroom pocket door.

and heck, if I wanted to drop the price even further, I could do what this guy did. Still with the zWave relay though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zHJewY3EUw

If you don't need feedback, then the generic switch type in the Z-Wave driver should probably do fine. Almost certainly that guy will support the Basic command class, which is what the generic switch type basically represents.

no feedback needed.

Interesting. For $50ish, I'll buy one, a 12V DC motor, and see what I can do. I'm looking right now at an open closet door, i'm on the bed, its sooooo far away. My god it would be cool to say "Alexa, ask Jarvis to close the master bedroom closet door". (Its a hollow door, super light, i'll bet a battery operated motor would have the power to close it)
