i'm going to setup an AWS db thingey if y'all want
#1
TL;DR, I need to learn how Amazon Web Services works for building & deploying applications with both back-end db connectivity & front-end screens. I figure i'll do this for my CQC system since I can share it, ask questions, get feedback, etc.

If anyone wants to help me setup & use it, let me know. Part of my education process is learning how to deploy a SaaS setup where multiple folks access it to store/retrieve their data, with multi-tenancy security setup so that you cannot see anyone else's data.

hopefully by doing something simple like replicating DataLogDB but using a cloud db will only take a little bit.

Read through the Echo setup document, since some of that will likely apply, the bits about setting up the Amazon side Javascript handling and such. I'd guess that you use the same mechanism to do your backend?

TBH you're already ahead of me. I need to learn AWS specifically as a vendor for work is making some pretty bizarre claims about it which, if true, make me want to get funding and spin up my own startup. I figure that as long as I need to learn how AWS works for deploying systems multi-tenant architectures, I may as well do it for CQC/HomeAutomation where I don't mind spending nights/weekends learning it.

They basically have a mechanism for host javascript based back end code. It's a general purpose mechanism that's used by various bits and pieces. The Echo support uses it. It's separate from the Echo stuff itself, which is just configuration that glues the hosted Javascript to it's intended source clients and target javascript handler.

I think that that javascript mechanism is used for the sorts of things you are talking about as well, but again, with surrounding setup and configuration for the specific task at hand.

The CQC Echo setup document talks about that stuff and may help bootstrap you up a bit and save some head scratching.
