Trouble getting CQC working with ISY Z Wave
#1
In general, this has been a rewarding experience. The mating with ISY seems to be simple and smooth from an operational standpoint. Much better than the VRC0P connection. It's great to add a device in ISY and have it immediately show up available in CQC without doing any updating, etc.

I'm having an issue that I can't determine whether it's in CQC or ISY or just my network.

My Z Wave only does lights and appliance modules, no lock, thermostats, etc. All enrolled quickly and easily in ISY as I created a new network from scratch rather than import one.

This is an issue with groups of lights being turned on or off.

When they are operated as an Event, such as turning on all of the household lights at 4:30 am, all appears to work normal. When testing the Event, all goes well.

When roughly the same group of lights are turned on with a Widget on my iPad, each Action comes on roughly one at a time with about 5-7 seconds between them, sometimes longer. Some never turn on, other times they all turn on but require 30 to 60 seconds to do so.

The CQC log shows that CQC is claiming an "Exception" and an additional line saying it failed to write to the device. The error messages are always the same.

I'm having trouble figuring out if this is a CQC issue, or an ISY issue and how to isolate it. I'm wanting to think it's an ISY issue, and I've started an inquire there also. The fact that things work normally as an Event and don't work with a Widget is puzzling.

Any thoughts.

Thanks

You should post a log dump. The details of the logged messages will tell us a lot about where to look.

BTW, wouldn't you want to this using scenes, instead of a bunch of single light commands?

I will work on refreshing myself getting a log dump. It's been a long time since I had to.

On the Scenes issue, yes that would be better I suspect. My list grew slowly over time to what it is today. The Scenes would have to be in CQC as it's a mixture of Z-Wave and Hue sources.

OK, I need to be refreshed on getting a log dump.

I have both the Log Query screen up and the CIDLib Log Server Monitor up. Both are reporting the exact same thing. But don't I remember a way of getting a more detailed error log?

For the log monitor, just right click on the window and do a copy.

It's a little tricky to tell what is going on there. Was the driver in verbose mode when you captured that?

Is table top lamp really a dimmer? Maybe it's set to the wrong type and really can't accept dimming commands?

I had to look. ISY shows all of the dimmers as "Scene Switch."

It's a Leviton Vizia + VRP03.
