Why I hate upgrading

Do you have 'embedded art' enabled on the file repo driver? I assume that's the one you meant? Do a reconfigure on it and see. If so, turning it off will vastly speed up the process, though you need the artwork to be in external files.

No, it was not checked. Artwork is available for most albums as a seperate image.

BTW, just for the record, I would argue that waiting as long as possible to upgrade is possibly the worst thing to do. If you upgrade along as versions come out, generally you will have the least complications, since there's much less change involved.

Of course in this case you also upgraded across some really big ones. 4.5 and 4.6 in particular were really big upgrades. But, I figure it's quicker to spend a small amount of time twice a year, than to wait a long time and deal with a lot of things at once. And, the things involved are fresher in everyone's minds at the time of the release so it's often easier to diagnose them quickly.

Of course, ideally, there'd be none. And I think that most of the time, most folks don't have anything more than small issues, which is arguably pretty good for a product this large and this open ended. But someone is usually going to get it a bit more than others, just due to what's been changed and how their particular system is set up.
