Triggers
#1
I would like to create a latching trigger for when the value of the field is less than or equal to another field, can that be done by just entering the field name in the entry box of the trigger?

ie:
IsLsThanEq
$(var.ChickenCoopMinTempAlert)

where $(var.ChickenCoopMinTempAlert) is a variable driver integer field.

No, you can't do that. The comparison value has to be a literal value. If you wanted to do something like that you'd have to use a triggered or scheduled event to watch for changes in that field. If the field changes rapidly you'd want to use a scheduled event set to go, say, once every few minutes or something. If it doesn't change often, use a triggered event, and set the field to send out a trigger for any change.

Whichever you use, have the event compare the value to the variable driver field where you store the min temp, and then have another variable driver field that provides the latched value. If your even only ever sets it, then it will stay set once set, until you explictly from somewhere else clear it by writing to it.

Maybe we should think about some sort of latching field type thing in the logic server. That would be the logical (pun semi-intended) place for such a thing.
