Dean, you need to read a book titled 'The dirty streets of heaven' by Tad Williams. It's about an earthbound angel that just can't seem to catch a break, particularly after falling for a sexy demon.
His run of luck is a lot like yours, well, at least he got to have great demon sex, can't speak to that part for you.

No hot demon sex lately, either, I have to say. Maybe I shouldn't post that, given that there's no privacy on the net.

I'd chalk that one up to, 'never a bad idea to let it be known to the powers above that you're not involved with demons'.

I'm a little surprised that they were so cavalier about branches on the lines. Trees are conductive. Or was it just the ground? If so you might want to have your service entry checked. Both the neutral and ground should be regrounded there.

I don't think it was that they were cavalier about it. There are two companies involved. Davey Tree does the tree work at the behest of Duke Power. I'm assuming it was Davey Tree (who don't have to deal with the results of their negligence) who ignored my requests.

I have a bucket full of 'round tuits', one of which is marked with 'cobble up a router firmware add-on to babysit all my UPS devices around the house'. Seems like where ever I have a UPS, there's not a router far away. Or room to situate a little Raspberry Pi gizmo. Just something to sit there, babysitting those damned things, and collating all the data that might help me stay ahead of their nonsense...
Like I said, it's a bucket... a BIG ONE....

I have a similar bucket or maybe a barrel now. If many of those UPS's near routers have a networked PC also nearby the business edition of Powerchute may help. It's set up to have the local UPS and PC client program be montored and managed remotely.
I'll probably jinx myself now but the only UPS nonsense I seem to run into is forgetting to change the pesky and expensive batteries. Usually find out when the power goes out and the UPS does a minute later.
