There is a 'passthrough' command for RIVA clients that lets you pass certain commands to the underlying operating system. Not sure though which ones the Android RIVA client implements. You might have to check its documentation for that. It was mainly added for just that sort of thing, to invoke a URL so that it's opened in a browser, but the actual RIVA client has to make use of it.
