Motion Sensor data logging?

This is just a thought exercise, but I have been trying to think up a way to 'track' people in my home. I think the easiest thing would be to use motion sensors, a lot of them, placed around the house.

I am wondering if it would be possible to log all motion sensor events to a DB somewhere, with simple tags like sensor name and time/date tripped. If I could get that data, I think I could start to use it to develop some predictive logic. If we could get trip events down to the millisecond, I think you could also use it for basic triangulation.

There is the thingspeak driver you could log with. The data is then available via http GET that returns json or Xml.

ill have to read into it a bit - i assume the driver just ships data up to the cloud?

It's not a driver, it's an event monitor, one of the new things for 4.7. That makes it a lot better for that type of thing.

Currently it sends it to their web service but you can run the server locally. Dean and I had discussed adding the needed prompt for that.
