Nov 3, 2014 - CQC Version 4.6 Released
Charmed Quark Systems, Ltd. is proud to announce the release of version 4.6 of their CQC automation platform. Version 4.5 was a huge release, introducing many new fundamental capabilities. Version 4.6 is a consolidation and expansion of those changes.
One of the key changes in 4.5 was the implementation of our new V2 Driver Architecture, which introduces standardized driver interfaces and which is at the core of many ongoing improvements in the product. A lot of work has been done in that vein in 4.6 as well.
4.5 Upgrade Guide
Some of more notable changes in this version are:
Auto-Generation. The Auto-Generation system has been expanded to support thermostats, so it now covers another fundamental area of most home automation installations. It also now allows you to integrate a custom floor plan layout screen to be used for lighting and security purposes.
Driver Standardization. Substantial work was done to create more new V2 drivers or to substantially improve some existing ones, including Elk, Omni, Z-Wave, Aprilaire, Radio RA2, and Insteon ISY. Still more will be added as we move forward. A lot of new device class interfaces have been defined and implemented in new drivers, and V2 validation tools are now available in the driver development tools to insure compliance.
Websockets Support. In version 4.7 we intend to introduce an HTML5 client option, and one of the prerequisites to that is support for Websockets. That was done in this version because it will be useful to customers as well. You can now create your own CML based, server side web sockets handlers that the CQC Web Server will load up based on URL accessed. This lets you serve up custom data to your own HTML5 clients if you wish. Only non-secure connections are supported for now. Secure connections will be added in 4.7.
New Drivers. The new Z-Wave driver, in addition to being V2 compliant, is a complete ground up re-implementation that is vastly superior to the previous one. It is much better architected, vastly easier for the user to set up, and it provides access to a lot more Z-Wave functionality. There is also a new driver for the Brultech GEM energy monitoring system, and the Myro:Air Apple TV music streaming player.
Try It
You can download the new version via the Try/Buy menu item on the web site, and try it out for 40 days. So you can know for sure whether it meets your needs before you commit.
Existing customers covered under the maintenance system can upgrade at their convenience. Other customers can purchase an upgrade to the 4.6 version if desired, just contact us for information.
