4.5.20 CAB question/problem of sorts
#1
ok, so I really like the whole auto gen thing, but most of my drivers are not V2'd, so at least for now I am sticking with my current templates, but I am trying to spruce them up a bit... and make it work/fit with my newish Acer Tablet... also play with some of the new CQC features and such...

so I stole the autogen'd Movie CAB, and prescaled it down to fit in an overlay...
that part worked perfect...
but I am having one little minor issue...
nothing shows up in the CAB on my tablet...
Exhibit A:
in the middle section there is an 800x530 overlay...

but to add to my confusion, if I open up the same template in a IV on my Desktop, (BOB) then everything works perfectly...
Exhibit B:

so what is so special about the Tablet that makes it not get any data?
it is connected to the master server, otherwise the main base template wouldn't be there, and I wouldn't be able to load the MyMovies Overlay (starts out with a Sage Overlay)...
is it just because the Tablet runs Win8 and Win8 is an evil abomination against nature?

The most likely issue is that either:

1. The client service isn't running on the tablet
2. The client service is running but the wireless connection hasn't remained good for long enough for it to download the media data locally. How long that is will depend on the size of the repo.
3. There's not enough space on the tablet to store the cover art downloaded from the various repos, and so it just continues to fail to download.

All media browsing these days is done via the locally cached media data, so it has to be downloaded to each machine. I guess another possibility is:

4. There are OnPreloadload/Onload commands from my original that you didn't remove and that is setting it up such that it doesn't work in your setup.

I think we can rule out #4 as that would effect my desktop also... and it also works just fine on my kitchen PC that is running win8 so I guess we can rule out win8 being evil, at least for now, or at least as far as this is concerned..
wouldn't OnPreloadload/Onload stuff happen the same on all 3 systems?

1) the CQC client service seems to be running, I tried restarting it just for fun, seems happy?
2) I have it in the same room as an access point, the tablet is plugged in so it wont shut down/go to standby, presumably it will keep the network up?
3) has 12GB left, not a super-duper lot, but should be plenty? how big would a MyMovies Repo of ~ 1000 movies be?

You can tell by looking in:

[cqc]\CQCData\Client\Data\MediaCache\xxx

where xxx is the moniker of the repo. Inside that directory should be jpgs for the large art and bitmaps for the thumbs, and finally a Metadata.CQCRepoDB file. If that repo DB file is there, then the data has been downloaded successfully, since it's the last thing downloaded.

If there are any issues with the client server downloading a repo, you will see errors in the logs about it. When it successfully finishes downloading a repo (or just finds out that it already has the most recent data) it will also post a message saying that repo whatever is now ready.

Well, all the pics and that db file are cached locally...
But still no worky on tablet...

Are you sure there's not any anti-virus blocking the client service perhaps? The IV talks to the server via socket to get the current database data (though it loads images directly from the disk.) The client service's port (unless you change it ) is 13520. You can also run CQCNetTest, which attempts to do a basic connection to the client service. That would tell us if the port is being blocked somehow, or if something else maybe is using 13520.

That was exactly it...
According to cqcnettest, port 13520 fails...

Now it is just a matter of finding who is blocking that port on the tablet...
