There have been a spate of new tablets running Windows 8.1 (not RT, but full blown Windows) that are price competitive with Android and Apple tablets in the 10├ó┬Ç┬Ø range.
A couple of examples are

http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msus...1_01.27.14.
For little (7├ó┬Ç┬Ø to 9├ó┬Ç┬Ø) tablets nothing comes close in price to Amazon Kindles but that segment is covered as well:
http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msus....289565600 at a slightly higher price.
I haven't tried any of these personally but I sure don't see why they wouldn't be good CQC clients (As opposed to the Windows 8.1 RT powered tablets which will not support a CQC client).

Must be a lot of interest because the MS store site is saying please wait due to heavy traffic. Either that or Google and Apple are doing a coordinated DOS attack maybe.

These tablets are really nice, especially for basic usage. I really see the Apple iPad being affected by these offerings in the long run.
I am waiting to pick one of these up for me and my wife for two reasons. One, and the most important, I travel and need a tablet with LTE and there are few offerings. The second reason is I want one with at least 4GB of RAM and most are being offered with 2GB of RAM. While I can find a tablet with each of these features, I haven't seen one yet that combines both of these for my needs...so I continue to wait.
One of the things that annoys me, and one of the reasons Microsoft brought out their own tablet, is PC makers always seem to devolve to price and so there is very little differentiation in terms of offering or quality. The tablet market seems to be continuing that trend...at least on the PC side.
But to get back on topic, I think any of these Windows 8.1 (non-WindowsRT) would work great for CQC.

I have the dell venue 8 pro and my only complaint that they don't make a charging dock.

A dock is pretty important for me if I'm buying a tablet for IV control. I think the Venue 11 has a dock option but as Mike says, not the 8 which is a great shame as it looks like a great device for CQC.
I like an IV controller I can pick up and use without having to unplug the power cable first!

What is the connector?, if it is just a microusb then maybe one of the android tablet/phone docks might work for you...

Yeah, micro USB. An inductive charging case would work well also.

A usb dock could be an option but often the charging port isn't in the middle, on the Dell it's towards the top corner so you'd need a landscape dock with the usb plug to one side.
