iTunes tracks issues
#11
DaveB Wrote:Dean-After lots of experimenting, I found that the primary issue with my iTunes metadata is the track number. Artist Name is a close second. If you download a single tune from iTunes, the track number field is not populated. With no track number, it will not import into CQC. The other issue is that if you happen to enter the same track number for a track with the same album name, both tracks then fail to import. Track number must be a key field in CQC land.

As you did say, sorting works better with more fields filled in, but the track will still import with them being blank other than track number.

I still can not figure out the counts in the tray app. They never seem to align with anything. Titles makes no sense, as the driver actually imports both more Tracks and more Albums that the reported Titles. You may want to look at that.

Also, MP3 will import if the metadata is in good shape, otherwise it will not. The driver seems to be more tolerant of bad metadata in M4a files.

Dean - I hate to drag this one up from the archives, but in lots of testing today, all of the above issues still exist. Did any further development or testing happen on your end in an attempt to resolve any of the issues that I reported?
Thanks,
Dave Bruner

AFAIK think it still requires the track number, because that's a key value in the metadata for arranging the items in a collection. They are often accessed by track number, so it has to be there and there can't be dups because that would cause an error because it's used to position the items within the collection and therefore it's part of the media 'cookies' used to target a specific piece of media. So you really have to get the metadata right in iTunes, at least that core stuff.

Yes - That is what I am discovering. The File Tag Browser did pick up about 1200 tracks of the 15,000 or so, which I need to figure out. The tray app via iTunes picked up zero tracks. Whichever driver will work is fine with me as we do not use the local music much any longer in favor or internet streaming sources. I will play with the metadata today.
Thanks,
