It's confusing to be honest. I used the business hangouts plugin and could get a url in advance of the meeting. But normally you have to invite everyone after you set up the live hangout. It'a annoying to say the least.

I guess Google assumed hangouts would only be used for spontaneous meetings. They dont have any way to schedule a meeting and invite people in advance.
Brian - a long time user that rarely messes with the system now
Other systems used:
SageTV w/ cablecard tuner & multiple extenders for viewing
BlueIris and IP cameras for CCTV
Incredible PBX for home phone

No, we had a PBKAC issue.

I think the fun part from when we did these a few years ago is the webcam component so you can see who you've been talking to all these years. Except for SomewhatLost, who conveniently had no webcam or microphone, I was looking forward to returning some of the abuse :-)
