Does this protocol make sense to you?
#1
My PJ screen has a serial interface, I got this. Does this make sense to anyone? I was looking for pretty little words, characters, or whatnot.

Code:
485communication protocol
一、RS485 or RS232 communication setting
Rate:2400
Start postion:1
dada postions:8
stop position:1
checking position:no

二、Basic Communication protocol(need to finish learn function first)
       Data format:0XFF,D1,D2,D3,OPN
1、Code:1byte 0XFF
2、Adress code:3byte D1,D2,D3
3、Operation code:1byte OPN(0xAA=log in,0xCC=stop,0xDD=up,0xEE=down)

三、Fixed format command。no need to first finish learn code function
1、stop:0xFF,0xEE,0xEE,0xEE,0xCC
2、up:0xFF,0xEE,0xEE,0xEE,0xDD
3、down:0xFF,0xEE,0xEE,0xEE,0xEE

OK, it's a binary protocol. You send the byte 0xFF (255), then the three bytes of the projector's address code, then the operation code you want to do.

So, in the three examples at the end, you'd send those sequences of bytes but replace the 0xEE, 0xEE, 0xEE bytes with whatever the projector address is. Presumably the projector has some three byte address that you'd look up in the configuration or something.

ok. Its been forever and a day since I looked at CML, are PDL drivers still a thing and can this be done there? I guess I could try and learn CML given batwater's stuff.

For a one way driver, it would be easy to do that in PDL.

Cool, one way is all I need. I'll either have to hire someone or code to do the projector driver, but I only need power so still simple.

Here is an older version of the JVC projector driver I wrote in PDL. You could use it as a starting point as it is very simple, but you might want to update the field names for the new V2 driver specification

Do you have a trigger connection on the screen that you can just plug into your projector or receiver's trigger port?

yes but no: Screen has a trigger, but the cheap PJ doesn't. The 2030 is only $1K, the upper level Epsons have those (I think).

I did notice a manual device for the screen that I could plug into the RS485 port. If I was so inclined, I could rig this into the Elk and use relays to trigger it. But its simpler to just run the wiring 15' to a GC-100 and use serial.
