I've scheduled the third hangout for Tuesday Sept 24th at 10pm EDT (GMT -4). I decided to get on a regular schedule and do these on the 4th Tuesday of each month at this time. Here is the
Google+ Event.
This month it has been suggested that we look at some user's systems and see what they have done design wise with their interfaces and also talk about what they are doing with events and other "behind the scene" stuff that occurs without direct user interaction.
I'm also trying out a new service for this month. I recently discovered
Business Hangouts which is a service that utilizes the normal Google On-Air Hangouts, but also ties in an easy registration and login process. Hopefully this will make it easier for people to register and log into the event when the time comes. Let me know what you think about the service. It is free for up to 20 participants which is more than what we are allowed in the normal Google Hangout environment.
Click here to register for the event.
We are still looking for users who would be willing to talk about their systems. Please let me know if you would be willing to share what you have. Don't feel like you need something finished and polished either. Sometimes the best ideas come from people that haven't finished anything yet!

Other systems used:
SageTV w/ cablecard tuner & multiple extenders for viewing
BlueIris and IP cameras for CCTV
Incredible PBX for home phone

I'm working to develop a system that is interface-less. I've made some progress. Everything I have is CML based. I don't want to share if its recorded though for security reasons.
Let me know if you're interested in my voodoo.

Just a reminder that this call is tonight. I hope everyone can make it. If not, be sure to check out the recording on Youtube. I'll post a link when it is up.
PS- Dean, have you practiced getting into a hangout yet? Do we need to make a call with you prior to the event?

I downloaded the plugin last night and finally got all of the web site security exceptions into the list to allow me to login to Google+ and such, so presumably once there's an active hangout to connect to, I can join it and then get my audio going.

I'm going to miss this one, on vacation this week and will be at a dinner show during the hangout. Have fun!

This is what I get when I try to register...

Otherwise please wait until the organizer validates your registration and sends you the invitation.
Does someone need to validate it still?

Another hangout is in the books. Dean did make it for this one too! It was nice to have him available for questions and comments.
We ended up talking about my system the entire time because the other participants were either audio only, or not in a position to show their systems. I was surprised, but we actually went longer than an hour, so I guess it worked out. I would still like to do this again with other people showing off their system because I always learn stuff from other people every time we've done this before (and that was before video conferencing)!

PS - I just checked the video and it is available in 720p which makes the screen shots extremely sharp! Thanks Google for updating the quality of these hangouts!

Brian - thanks for sharing your system. I picked up some things I will surely implement. Next time I'll sit in my office so I have a web cam.
Was thinking about this last night. To make it a little less one sided perhaps we should pick topics for discussion and then have a few users volunteer how they address those topics. This way it'd only be a little blurb from a few different people...and then those of us with nearly nothing implemented still might have something to share.
