Let's think about doing one in a few weeks. Perhaps mid to end of Aug. I guess I don't mind doing these more frequently than that, but I also don't want to burn people out doing these all the time.
Regarding the Google events and invitations..... Google is a little strange in that you can schedule a On-Air Hangout (which is the type that allows you to record it and have more than 10 participants), but you cannot start the On-Air Hangout using the calendar event itself.
So I have to create the event to let everyone know about it, but then invite people to the On-Air Hangout when I create it at broadcast time. What I did last time was send a direct invitation to those people that either relied "Yes", "Maybe", or "Not Responded" on the CQC event. Obviously if a person replied "Not Attending" or if they had not joined the CQC community (and therefore I didn't know about them), I didn't send an invitation. Maybe one day Google will fix this two step process and allow us to do it all in one step. But until then, we have this "work around" to deal with.
We can invite people during the event, so people can post on the Google+ Event and ask for an invitation if I missed them somehow. Alternatively, a person can simply watch the live stream via the Youtube link. The only downside to this method is that you cannot participate (ie speak or screen share) in the event. People watching via the Youtube link are only anonymous observers.
I'd like to see these events go for about 1 hour. Any longer and people loose interest and more importantly, our families start getting annoyed ;-).

I think there is some interest in learning more about using voice commands on Android phones. IVB started this and now Ben is looking into how to do it with the newer CQC versions that make this process even easier. That may be our next topic.
Also, we don't have to limit ourselves to only CQC topics. For example, I could do one on my Asterisk based phone system if people are interested in something like that. During the first hangout, we did talk briefly about Chromecast since it is brand new and both IVB and Ben had already received theirs.
If there are other topics that people want to share about or learn about, please let us know so we can plan for it.
Thanks,

Oh, glad you posted that, had that same thought after the hangout. I think we should formally expand these to "Home Automation, pieces & parts", with the assumption that we're using CQC as the core. There's many difference pieces to the puzzle, CQC is a major player but not the only one. (IE, tasker, AutoVoice, NFC Task Launcher, generic Android stuff, other PC stuff).
In the end, we want to learn how to accomplish our goals, where we can leverage CQC to meet them, and what other pieces we need. Now *THAT* would be interesting.
BTW, i'm personally unavailable on 8/17, and will have just come back from a trip on 8/24. I might be able to do 8/24, its a "see if I can physically wake up" at 8am that morning. (8/23 evening is out, still in transit)

Two questions.
1- Was this recorded? I'd like to see it.
2- Can we get an announcements forum so we can subscribe to all new messages? I would have loved to have been on this but since I haven't been very active in the forums, I missed it.
Thanks.

Watched the hangout the other morning - well done guys. Even though there were three of you there this is great info for those who are new to CQC or wanting some new ideas for CQC.
I think the idea of discussing topics that are not CQC but then incuding how to integrate them into CQC is a good avenue to follow - it will spark some interest and hopefully generate some unusual systems.
There is something I would like expanded on but I cant think of what it is and will have to watch the video again. It was a feature that you guys were using (not the voice control).
More info on teh voice ocntrol would be good as well, like what app you are using and a little more about getting it to CQC. If "epsisodes" were created it would allow those interested in the future to watch and learn a particular topic.
