It "converts" the HDMI signal into Ethernet and then sends it across the network to the receiving unit.
You do switching by telling the network switch to change VLANs that the receiver is on. Each HDMI input uses its own VLAN.
This makes it a very flexible matrix switch that can be easily expanded.
Interesting idea but no idea if it really works.
