I use mocha RDP. Not sure if i recomend it though. If you use sliders it may be problematic.

VNC apparently has an app but you will need the VNC server installed which also means the user will be a console user.

Others have definately been used. Try a quick search as i am sure there is mention of another one on here somewhere.

Why not use the iOS app?

The Wyse apps work pretty well. I think they have a paid and free version.

I use Remote Desktop Connection, downloaded from Microsoft. I am on version 2.0.1 (090714), and downloaded it somewhere from the Microsoft website. I use it all the time for maintenance, setup, etc.. for CQC. You just have to get used to using the Apple Shift/Control keys held down at the same time to effect a Control button in Windows, and to hold down the same two keys while clicking the single button Apple mouse to effect a right click in Windows.
Also good to setup your CQC machine(s) with the hack from
missing remote.com that allows for concurrent RDP sessions from whatever version of windows you are using. Allows you to login on your Apple computer via the above RDP program to do maintenance changes, while still running your day to day interface viewer via RDP on your iPad or whatever tablet you might be using.
On my iPad I am using iTap RDP, which is the way I control my CQC installation on a day to day user basis.
Good luck.

RIVA handles most of the CQC stuff quite elegantly.
I switched back to RDP mainly because RIVA just can't render a page of cover art for my movie library fast enough. RIVA falls short if you have lots of graphics built-in to your templates. Also, doesn't support a web widget, which was an annoyance for me, but not a show stopper.
If you aren't pushing lots of graphics images or using built-in web widgets, it should work better than RDP.

Isn't caching of the images supposed to speed things up dramatically. Is it still too slow even cached?

See here for discussion of implementing support for web browsers in the RIVA clients:

Mocha RDP works well on both iPhone 4 and iPad 3 with Win XP. Keyboard is limited on the free version but if you just want to launch an interface no biggie. Since there is a free version you could try out with Win Server 2008 with nothing to lose but time.

I use Mocha RDP to win server 2008 with no problems. I am on the free version.
