Hi Guys -
I need a technical question answered. I just ordered a Rain 8 Pro irrigation controller that im going to connect to cqc via a cat5 with two of these

however, i need to use one of the pairs in the cat5 to run a contact closure for my garage door. so my question is what pins on the rs-232 will i need to connect inorder to make this work. my understanding is that it will work.
A) is this true that it will work
B) what pins do i need to connect
Thanks

As I remember, the Rain8 only needs 3 wires for its RS232 connection: RxD, TxD, and Ground. Those are pins 2, 3, and 5 on the DB9 connector.

Thanks, glad you like it.
Once you get the Rain8 installed, you will need to install the Rain8 driver (which I didn't write) and the Irrigation Scheduler driver if you are interested in my stuff. I should have an updated version of the Irrigation Scheduler coming soon.

I have the thermostats now and i think i have them wired correctly except im not sure what the A+ A- B+ B- relationship should be? should i be wiring the TX to A+ and the RX to B- or B+?
