Touch client useful for RIVA
#1
We recently evaluated a touch client for RIVA. It is a 7" 16:10 800x480 touch panel designed for in wall mounting that runs Win CE. It worked very well with RIVA. The only issue is that it is a bit tough to mount in a retrofit situation (you need to position a 2x4 or 2x6 between joists to fasten the mounting box so you will be cutting a larger hole in drywall than the device requires and have to to patch said hole).

The specs are at www.tutch.co.uk. The contact is "panic at tutch.co.uk". It is a nice option if you want an in wall touch controller.

I wonder if it would be possible to use a retrofit ceiling fan mounting bracket in lue of a 2x4 or 2x6? Even if the box wasn't the right size, it should be easy to swap the original box for something that fits the screen. They bracket is adjustable so it is easy it place it in the wall/ceiling and expand the bracket until it is tight against the studs/joists.

Something like this.

I hear that you need to use their backbox & there is a 'howto' that shows how to retrofit without cutting a hole that's bigger than the backbox & requires mnimal making good...

12v power supply makes it really nice for retro jobs. You don't have to run 110v power to the screen. Just network cable and LV wires to run the 12v power over.

Here is the datasheet. I didn't see a How to Install on the website, but maybe they can send it out.

Mark - a minor correction; Joists are in ceilings and floors. Studs are in walls. The cross cat needs to be placed "between studs", and not "between Joists"

Just bothered me a bit. Sorry for the correction.
Thanks,
