Security Camera Images - How To?
#1
I need some basic guidance, pointer, etc as to how best display the images from my surveillance system. I have access to jpegs for each camera that are auto generated by the system's software. My question is how do I build a framework object, java, don't really know what, way of loading those images into my security screen interface template?

Images are accessed via a URL. I have created HTML pages (based on the weather radar threads) that contain the necessary HTML to load the image and have them loading into a template but for the life of me I do not know how to cause them to refresh automagically. The template will not refresh more than once a minute.

As an aside when I was running 3.0.5 (I'm now on 3.0.32) the html pages would load populated, as of now they do not, most of the time they load black. Load the HTML directly into a browser and it loads every time. Okay, bit more digging:
  1. 3.0.32 on Vista 64bit works as expected, 3.0.32
  2. Windows 7 64bit does the odd random image load, black box
  3. Windows 7 32bit does the odd random image load, black box

HTML pasted below

<BODY text=#000000 bgColor=#000000 leftMargin=0 topMargin=0 bottomMargin=0 scroll=no border="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0">
<DIV align=bottom><IMG src="http://guest:guest@192.168.1.99/1">
</DIV></BODY></HTML>

My next question after I figure out how to refresh is now to scale the images, they are 704x480. I am a complete java, HTML noob, am an old Assembly, C programmer, SQL, then got into management...

Thanks!!!

Try putting the following before the body tag in your html:

<head>
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="5">
</head>

Change the 5 to the number of seconds between refreshes.

To scale the images, change your img tag to:

<IMG src="http://guest:guest@192.168.1.99/1" width='100' height='100'>

Change the 100 to the desired width / height to scale to.

Jkish thanks that worked perfectly! If I wanted to position multiple jpegs on the screen, let's say 4 cameras how would I go about doing that?

Is there a good HTML reference that you could point me at?

Create a table. Something like this inside the div tag:

<table>
<tr>
<td><IMG src="http://guest:guest@192.168.1.99/1" width='100' height='100'></td>
<td><IMG src="http://guest:guest@192.168.1.99/2" width='100' height='100'></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><IMG src="http://guest:guest@192.168.1.99/3" width='100' height='100'></td>
<td><IMG src="http://guest:guest@192.168.1.99/4" width='100' height='100'></td>
</tr>
</table>

This is a 2x2 table. The <tr></tr> pairs define rows, the <td></td> pairs define cells.

I just guessed that the /1 parameter on the url was a camera number. Modify the url as you need to actually point to the various images.

I'll see if I can find a good html reference somewhere, but I would start by googling 'html tutorial'

To amend this works great in firefox; I found out it will load on Vista in an IV browser object but not at all on Win 7. The other issue due to latency is that the images flicker terribly with a 1 second refresh so to achieve the desired video stream and not flicker something other than HMTL refreshes will have to be figured out; is embedded java or something like it an option? This in a realm that I am not familiar, any thoughts suggestions, code snippets would be most appreciated.

Thanks
