I think the price is good but not great. Thats just my opinion based on some posts on slickdeals and fatwallet. I've been looking for a new TV to replace my 720P panasonic and just today bought a 50" Samsung 1080p plasma (I realize you're looking at LCD) + a samsung HTIB Blu-ray setup for a total of $1165 after taxes.

I think with CES coming up and new models rolling out soon that if you don't need one now, or don't find a screaming deal on one, then you're probably better off waiting a month or so once the current models see heavier discounts and the new ones come out at hopefully lower starting prices.

I was hoping to buy one to replace my 55" Sony Rear Projection LCD by Superbowl Sunday. I have also looked at Plasma but the operating costs appear to be sometimes twice as much as a LCD and I would like to keep the electric bill down and still have a 55" or larger flat panel.

Personally I would be hard pressed to buy any TV that doesn't have RS-232 controls at this point. I realize that can severely limit the options, but having full control over the TV is worth more than a slight increase in picture quality that a non rs-232 TV might have.

Just my two cents that really are not contributing anything to this thread....... carry on.

Other systems used:
SageTV w/ cablecard tuner & multiple extenders for viewing
BlueIris and IP cameras for CCTV
Incredible PBX for home phone

I would like that... but I am not putting it very high on the list since this is the daily tv in the family room and 99% of the viewing is tv.
