The VRCOP guy, yeh. Is it the +3 one with the beaming and locks support? If so, drop me an e-mail at support @ our domain.

Just some words of encouragement.. Yay!!! :-D Last remnant of PITA X-10 is waiting on a stable Z-Wave driver...

Ben,

Ive always got the impression that the VCROP was not very stable. Hopefully Dean's superior programming skills can make it work.

In the event that its a hardware issue. i have been extremely pleased with the AEON stick and my leviton z-wave switches/dimmer.

Lets see what happens though

I want the door lock support which isnt avalible with the aeon....

Dean you should have the device either today or tomorrow USPS

Hopefully it's not the case. We'll see. Partly I think that it has to do with the fact that Z-Wave itself is not the most robust of platforms. It's easy to do something that throws the mesh network off and not be really aware of it, then suddenly the driver is struggling to get things done, and the fact that most folks probably have a fair amount of stuff that needs to be polled which puts a further load on the network and makes it less stable and responsive.

Any sorts of auto-diagnosis/healing features that this box exposes I guess we'll want to make use of, to at least provide a warning indication of potential lowered performance or issues before they become bad.

But I seriously hope I don't end up putting the amount of time into this thing that it's going to require to get a good driver only to find out it's been wasted because it's too flakey to use.

dean, here is what i would recommend to hopefully save you from wasting time going down a rabbit hole...

test out the commands in a simple yet agessive way and make sure you dont see indications that the device is locking up. thats the problem that i was experiancing, but keep at mind, im really not a programmer i was just hacking the code in minor ways to fix differences between the orginal device and the new updated one. i could have very well been making it worse and adding unnessecary strain.

Dean,
If you want a lock to try out, I would be happy to send you one as well as long as you don't mind sending it back when you are done with it.

Let me see if it's going to be basically trustworthy first. If so, and it's working for me with my wee set of lights and switches, then we can take the next step.
