Hi there every one Smile

I'm currently using Homeseer with Homeseer touch and im kind of satisfied with that. But i think HS lacks in media handling, i cant browse my media on my touchpads in an elegant way.

But changing automation software is a big step as i have invested a lot of money and time around the homeseer ecosystem already.

Iv seen the Vidabox video made by Ian Dixon, and that is the kind of video integration im looking for. I guess it's made with the mymovies plugin? and with some clever use of global cache? or is there tcp ip control of a MS MCE in CQC?

RFXCom: i have a lot of stuff build around the rfxcom box, whitch is a "wonder" box. I use it for my Oregon temperature sensors, my lightning control, and my visonic alarm sensors and keychains. Are there plans for supporting RFXCom in the future?

Zwave: I live in Norway so i'l need support for european zwave. Are some of you guys from Europe using this with zwave? What brand/model of pc interface are you using? And switchers/dimmers/ and temperature sensors?

I know i had other questions as well, but i totally forgot them right now Smile

any help is very much appreciated. Thanks Smile

Welcome & gud dag. The only one I know the answer to is Vidabox, which yes, uses MyMovies. I haven't watched the video, so I can't address the global cache.

I can't offer anything on media or z-wave but you might want to check and see if you can sort user profiles by location. Can't think of the names at the moment but I've seen folk around with UK or continental European locations. They may be able to help more.

Link to the video referenced is here.
Recovering (quasi) ex-professional integrator...wait...scratch that. I'm back in the field and should probably have my head examined...

I am based in southern Europe, I use Litetouch for lighting, Vidabox for Music and Video and Mobotix for CCTV, Barix and Datanab as well as a bunch of other systems.
Ask any questions you need.
Its not my job to fix everything, just to get everything fixed.

Are you using our driver for the Barix?

Wow, you use a lot of stuff i'v never heard about before...this does not look like a typical DIY install to me Smile Looks like very expensive and pro equipment.

As i said, i use rfxcom now for lightning (Homeasy /Nexa) but i seem to have some issues with the 433,93 mhz in the crowded condo thingy i live in. So i am thinking about migrating to zwave.
But it looks like zwave and CQC is not that common..(?)

Maybe i can use both HS touch and CQC on my touchscreens?
Can you start applications from the CQC touch interface? I might have a button for "lights" that actually opens the HS touch interface...

I use zWave with CQC, a few of us do, but you mentioned european zWave which may be causing the lack of answer.

Oh man, I totally want lightning control...I had no idea that was possible yet! My lightning keeps striking randomly. And if you live in Norway...why do you care what the temp is in Oregon?? ;-)

All kidding aside....as for the RFXCom control....if you're talking a simple interface between CQC and a device (and the control protocol is available), then there are 4 main ways to get this:

1) Convince Dean it's in the best interest of CQC to have that supported, in which case he'll "add it to the list" and you can begin asking him about it in 2 month intervals in which case he'll tell you it WAS going to be in this release but got bumped because of the [insert current big ticket item here]. It's somewhat inefficient, but eventually you'll get the best CQC support there is. (What it costs: Dean's Time)

2) Learn the CQC CML programming language and write your own driver. If you have a programming background, it's not ALL that hard. It'd probably take 2 or 3 months to get the hang of it. (What it costs: Your Time)

3) Wait for someone else who already knows CML to come along and develop the driver. (What it costs: A unknown amount of time, maybe never)

4) "Entice" someone else who already knows CML to develop the driver. Different people have different methods of being persuaded, for some it's as simple as asking, and for others, it'd probably involve first-borns or such. (What it costs: $$$, or hardware, or beer, or "thanks"...who knows)

You can always post in the Driver Request thread and see if that gets a response.

So what should i buy for serious thunder control? Smile Im not really sure i know the right word then. Just say: control my lights maybe Smile EDIT2: lighting,lighting...

I'm no programmer - but i think its no easy thing to make rfxcom and CQC talk together - its a lot of stuff that that box supports Smile

I guess a driver like that would take a lot of man-hours. I have to win the lottery first...

But what about the idea that i can use both touch interfaces. I can use CQC for media handling for now, and HST for my other suff. In HStouch i can get a button open another app, so on my wall mounted touchscreen i use it to open skype.

And can i have the buttons send http commands? On codeplex there is an app for remote control of mediacenter over tcp ip (telnet and http) I *think* someone made it compatible with win 7. Edit: http://www.codeplex.com/VmcController . Looks like its a two way thing.

Thanks Smile
