Problems with File Tag Repository and Zune files
#1
I've got a large Zune collection, all wma files saved to a server), I'm trying to get a repository setup for. I've loaded the File Tag Repository driver and got nothing.

So I added a folder for a ripped CD I had in the same folder as the Zune file. The driver loaded with 1 title. I have it displaying the songs and it lists all three.

I moved one of the ripped files into one of the Zune folders and the driver now shows 2 titles. It is showing both the covers for the ripped and Zune files, but when I click on the Zune album, it only shows the one ripped file I copied in.

File permissions for both System and Network Service seem to be the same, the only differences I can find are in the Copyright. The Zune file has one, Ripped doesn't and Protected, the Zune file has yes, the other file has nothing.

Is it the protected tag that is causing issues?

According to what version of CQC you are running, putting the driver into verbose logging mode and forcing a reload may get it to tell you a bit more about what's making it unhappy.

The log isn't too helpful.

I did download a program to try and remove the DRM from the file. I created a new WMA file stuck it in the same directory and now it is showing that new file.

@$%@$% DRM !$#@$!

The driver is very picky. This is what I had to do to my Itunes collection to get it to work with that driver.

1. Inside Itunes, I executed the Convert Id3 tag function - I went to Id3 2.2 . That was easy.
2. Make sure you have a jpg in each folder for the album art. It doesn't matter what you call it.
3. I converted everything to mp3's
4. I used GoldLeafMp3Tag Editor to remove any non Id3 tags. This took time as I had to open each Itunes Album folder. Try it on one of your CD's and see if this works.
Someone else may have a better way, but this worked for me.

Ron, thanks for the info. I'll dig some tonight, Album art seems to be showing up fine, I'll have to look at the tag information to see if that makes a difference.
