Drivers on different machines
#1
I have everything wotking fine when all the drivers are on one machine, but when I put the cqc audio driver on a different machine to the repo server, I can celect the CD's etc, but the music won't play. Is this a valid way to configure it, or do I need to create another instance of the repo on the second machine?

i'll bet it's a network permissions issue. Are the mp3 files on the first machine, where you have it mapped via a network/etc to the second machine?

The main server contains my audio repo FileTagBrowser. The mp3's are there as well. Even though they are local, I reference them as \\QUADCORE\Users\user\........... With the Audio player on this machine everything is fine.
If I delete the audio driver and create it on a second machine, it won't play. This includes both cases of running the IV on both machines.
If you ever get over to south bay, we should get together and say hello.

It is probably a network rights issue or a share issue. Do you have a network share set up for that location? If not try that first. If that doesn't work it may be a rights issue. By default CQC uses the Local System account. You should create a new user account with admin priveliges on both machines and set the cqc service to log on using that account. That should take care of any network rights issues.

You should come to one of the Dean/Ellisr63 Fish Market dinners. It's somewhere off 280 down your way, I can't ever remember how to get there, and I always insist on following Dean's bad directions so i'm always 20-30 mins late.

For the audio stuff: I can't remember if CQC has access to network shares if it's running as a service. Try running it as a local user. Right click on MyComputer, click Manage, then Services, find the CQC service, second tab is "Log On". Put in a username&password that has login perms on that 2nd box, then see if it works.

I've done a share. I'm seeing all the cover art OK, so I thought that meant that the share was OK. I'll try the admin user idea.

Sounds like a great idea. When's the next one? I've talked to Ron and met up with Dean.

We haven't had one in a good while, maybe we should set up one. It's always at The Fish Market at El Camino and Lawrence.

On the problem, if you have used a share, then it's generally a network rights thing for the default SYSTEM account, as mentioned. The audio player driver runs in the background, so it runs in that system account. If it doesn't have network rights, then it can't access the share.

I'm around, so why don't we pick a date. I think Ron works evenings so he might be the limiting factor re the date
