Which IR code-set to use with CQC and USBUIRT Receiver
#1
I am about to "crack open" the programming on our two Harmony remotes, to add the HD-200 and a new source switcher. While setting this up, I'd like to send some commands to CQC at the same time.

I have a USBUIRT and access to make the Harmony pretend to be any remote in Logitech's extensive database. I don't want to pick something I'm remotely likely to end up with (like "Sony TV"), so wonder what other people are using.

You know -- some little known but easily understood remote with enough buttons to trigger enough actions and coexist peacefully. It would be handy if the CQC IR model already had codes for it, but not essential (I can download them into the harmony and then have the CQC/USBUIRT learn them from the harmony).

Any thoughts?

I've found that I actually need to use two device codes. The first is a TV device and the second a DVR, VCR, or DVD player. The TV devices generally don't have any transport commands and the DVR/VCR/DVD devices generally don't have any input selections. So I use one of each and set each button on the remote to use whichever device is appropriate.

I just picked two random devices that I don't currently have. Then I use the USB-UIRT to capture the commands and CQC sends the proper commands out to the devices that I do have.

I use a harmony and actually use the activity buttons. But I've programmed the remote to simple send out a unique "Input" command for each different activity. For example, if I choose "Watch DVR", the remote basically sends out a single command to change the TV Input to "Input 2". CQC reads that command (Input 2) and acts accordingly, setting all the corrrect inputs, power settings, etc to display my SageTV extender on the TV screen.

If I choose "Watch DVD" it might send a command "Input 3".

That way the remote is only sending out 1 short command everytime you press the button. There is no having to point the remote at the TV for 5-10 seconds as the remote works through a long macro.

SageTV w/ cablecard tuner & multiple extenders for viewing
BlueIris and IP cameras for CCTV
Incredible PBX for home phone
