Thoughts on the new Philips DCP851/37 as input device
#1
I've seen a few CES reports on this new device and was wondering what the general impression here was. The Philips DCP851/37 Docking Entertainment System. Product page link HERE. Could this be integrated with CQC?

Thanks,

It appears to only be a media player, not a PC (tablet etc) of any sort so it would not work with CQC. It does not have a touchscreen and does not run ant falvour of windows.

I heard on a podcast about an ASUS product wither out now or coming out soon. It was an Eeepc with a touch screen that the keyboard folded back behind it to be a tablet.

Asus also have a tablet style one now without keyboard.

I was looking at the Asus EEE Top touch but do not like the clear plastic on the bottom though it is part of the stand. It runs XP and is 1.6 Ghz

It certainly cannot today. However, invariably it uses some sort of linux software to run itself. If someone is able to hack the OS system and If it can be made to run a more standard linux OS and If the new interface scheme is made to run with linux Then perhaps it could be made to work with CQC.

That being said, there are a whole lot of Ifs that would have to be worked through, and I think you'll find there will be easier products out there that will end up working with CQC. Something like the iPod touch for example.

Other systems used:
SageTV w/ cablecard tuner & multiple extenders for viewing
BlueIris and IP cameras for CCTV
Incredible PBX for home phone
