In trying to set up theater control, I am implementing IR control of some devices so I'm gonna use my GC100. In reading the doc's on IR control there is a cryptic statement that says, "The GC-100 is not trainable, so it can only use IR models by importing them via the CQC IR export format, which you can get from the CQC web page. We can convert codes learned into a UIRT for you if needed." Does this mean that there is no way for me to just cut and paste .ccf's into the program? Do I have to submit .ccf's, have them converted and THEN be able to load from the website? Please tell me it's not so.

I believe that is the way it use to happen. However, Dean has modified the driver recently to add some capabilities and I thought one of those things was adding the IR learning into the system. Global Cache sells an add on unit to handle IR learning, so you would have to get one of those units (if Dean in fact made this work).
The other thing is that as a paying CI, I'd think Dean would be able to turn around those required files to you ASAP. So I'd contact him directly through your CI method for quick response.

I'll open up the driver. I have the GC learner (an invaluable tool) and we'll see where it's at. I PRAY that we don't have to bounce back and forth, we have our first CQC install for a paying client tomorrow and will have our hands full with that. C&P is a MUCH more reasonable way to accomplish IR input. Hell, if C&P is available I could double the available IR library for the GC very quickly.

It does look like that as of beta version 2.4.17 the global cache learning device is supported.

OK. Where in the hell do I find the beta releases?

There is always a thread for the latest beta release. Dean will always post the latest release in this thread. It is a sticky thread in the "Beta Discussion" Forum. There is also a link to the latest "Beta Documents" which is basically the normal website but with everything changed for the latest beta. So any newly support devices, or changes to the technical documents will be found on this Beta Document link. Just keep in mind that Dean is usually behind in his documentation, so many changes may not have been updated in the docs.
That beta thread lists all the changes per release. This beta has been building since July 07, so there is a lot of changes to wade through!

I have a CG-100-18R and if you have a USBIrt you can learn codes via it and then convert them to GC codes using a command line at the CQC command prompt.
I cant find where Dean posted that info, if I do I will add it here, but Dean may also chime in before I find it.
It wont require an upgrade to a beta either

Already upgraded as I don't want to have to buy a USB-UIRT to continue. Thanks, though.

The deal is that we now have a driver for the IRL. It's a separate device from the GC-100. However, they both are modifying the same IR repository since they both deal with the same IR format. So if you train in commands via the IRL, they will show up to load in the GR-100. If it's already loaded in the GC-100 it won't see any newly added commands until you reload the device (or the system restarts and it has to load them up again.) So you have to be a little careful, because they are separate drivers fiddling in the same IR repository, but they don't know about each other.
