need help connecting Pioneer vsx94txh to cav6.6
#1
If anyone has a similar set-up or knows how to help I would appreciate it.
I want to hook up a 5.1 speaker system to Pioneer vsx94txh and hook up Pioneer to Russound cav 6.6. All of the equipment is in a rack in my basement ready to be hooked up. The 5.1 set-up is in the living room with the keypad controlling source. I have another room where I have a 7.1 speaker system working great... I ran a digital coax from composite video to digital coax in on a creative decoder ddts-100. I assume I could do the same with pioneer but I can't figure it out

TIA, Kevin

i use a pioneer vsx75 and cav6.6. the pioneer is just one of the six sources into the cav6.6. uno keypad in room controls speakers powered from cav.

no decoder, no coax. not really sure what you are trying to do.

Give us an idea of what direction you're heading. CAV's sources feeding the Pioneer as a zone or Pioneer feeding the CAV as a source?

the cav feeding the pioneer as a zone. So instead of using 2 speakers in that room, I want to use pioneer with 5.1 hooked into pioneer. I can't get a decoded surround sound though. I don't know if I need to change something in the settings or just hook it up differently. thanks

I have a CAV6.6 and a Pioneer VSX94TXH. I have the Pioneer as a pre-amp out for a CAV zone so I can listen to the whole house audio in the theater room as well. I put the CAV into an unused input (maybe CD) on the Pioneer. ALSO, I have the zone 2 output from the Pioneer as a A/V source for the CAV. The CAV can only switch analog, stereo audio and composite video.

If you're not using the CAV's video inputs/outputs, you can instead switch digital audio (SPDIF) through those I/O's. If your sources don't have coax out, you'll need to convert Toslink to coax. Or, you could just use the analog out and config the AV rcvr for the matrixed surround field of your choice.

I figured it out... I needed to select coax digital out for the right input in the osd menu of the receiver. I thought it would end up being something easy that I was overlooking. Thanks to those who responded.
