Universal Devices ISY Insteon Driver
#21
Yeah, since field names in CQC must be unique and don't accept the same characters as the ISY device and scene names, it is possible that a name could be duplicated. I think the driver should reject the duplicate and throw and error, but I didn't really test that. There might be a bug there, i'll take a look at it, but in most cases it is probably best to rename the offending device or scene in the ISY.

Also, you can only attach certain file types to the forum, ZIP is one of them. So if you try to attach one that isn't allowed (or if it is too big) it will show an error, but it is easy to miss. That's probably what happened. Happens to me all the time.

Anyway, glad to hear it's working for you now.

This driver has been added to the formal release (as of 2.4.43.) So before you upgrade, you probably want to remove the driver, and delete the manifest from [cqc]\CQCData\DataServer\Manifests\User, then upgrade and install it again to get the official one, else you'll stay on the user version of it.

Hi there,

Not sure what I have done Sad was working with ISY99i/PRO nicely until yesterday, now I constantly get a wait for comm message. I did upgrade to the latest beta and re-downlaoded 1.2 of the driver (although I only see the DEV version in my list now ??). Please help....... The ISY unit is also running the latest beta s/w (so all up to date, perhaps too much so ??)

Note: Message moved here at the suggestion of Dean.

I'm having an intermittent problem. Three or four times a day I notice that the status of a few of my Insteon devices, as reported by the ISY Driver, is incorrect, that is, lights that are "off" report that they are on (status=100) and light that are "on" report that they are off (status=0). When this happens, if I check the status of the lights in question using the ISY software, it always reports the correct status indicating that the ISY is working correctly but that CQC or the CQC ISY driver is intermittently not correctly receiving or interpreting this information. The problem does not always affect the same light(s) and there appears to be no pattern to when or which lights are affected. I've tried reloading the ISY Driver from the CQC Field Browser window but that does not correct the status of the affected lights. I've also tried increasing the Timeout parameter for the ISY driver from 1000 to 2000 msec. This did temporarily reset the lights to the correct status but didn't prevent the problem from reappearing 3 hours later. Finally, whenever this happens, if I go to the wall switch(es) and turn the affected light(s) off and on or on and off, CQC recognizes this action and corrects the status of the light(s) in question. Of course, having to go to the wall switch(es) and toggle the light(s) on and off defects the purpose of the automation system . Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be and/or how to resolve it? Thanks.

The driver has only been tested and verified with the latest release version.

Jerry what firmware version are you running? It sounds like the ISY isn't always sending updates to the driver. You can try turning logging up and see if you can catch it then post the logs. I have seen a similar issue in that the ISY thinks it has turned on/off but it didn't take, but the driver has always seemed to be in sync with the ISY for me.

I was using Firmware 2.7.15 which is what shipped with the device I received last week.

I just upgraded my Firmware to 2.8.4 (beta). I realize the driver hasn't been tested with this Firmware version but I wanted to see if it makes a difference. If not, then I'll roll back the firmware and turn on logging to see if I can catch exactly what's going on.

I hope you are carefully reading the bug reports before upgrading to those betas, there are a lot of issues with that release.

The reason I don't upgrade and test with the betas is I have often found it hard to find a stable enough one. I do pop in and read the releases and reports from time to time to see if there are any big developments that would warrant an upgrade.

I would recommend not upgrading to a beta unless you absolutely have to.

I agree. This is the first ISY beta I've tried (that's not saying much since I've only had the device for a week) and the only reason I'm trying it is to see if it resolves the intermitten communication problem I appear to be having between the ISY and the CQC ISY Driver. If it doesn't solve the problem or if I run into any other issues with the beta, I'll roll back to the latest released version and turn on logging to see if I can isolate the problem.

FYI. I just ended up with another light of of sync between CQC and ISY so the beta ISY driver did not resolve the problem. I've now rolled my system back to the 2.7.15 released driver and have turned on logging to see if I can capture something that will help determine the cause and solution to the problem.

Here is some of the ISY log information when one of my lights is out of sync between the ISY device and the CQC ISY Driver. Note, this information was obtained using the latest release firmware (2.7.15) for the ISY.

Background: Driveway spotlight is on. Spotlight is controlled by 2 switches that are linked together in a scene. ISY software reports both switches on (status 100), CQC ISY Driver reports both switches off (status 0).

ISYDriver_ISY_Data.txt for relevant switches (both switches on):

ISYDriver_ISY_Log.txt section when I correct the switches by turning the scene on, off, and back on in the ISY software:

10/30/10 07:28:17.725 - -----------------------------------------------------------------

At the conclusion of this the ISY Driver correctly reflects the fact that both switches are on.

Does this help and, if not, is there are other log information you'd like me to try and obtain. Thanks.
