Nuvo Announcement - Music Port
#1
This landed in my inbox from another source, you might find it interesting:

Quote:This was demonstrated earlier this year at EHX, but NuVo has finally announced availability (August) and pricing ($999) for their Music Port device, which allows a PC to act as a multi-source music server to their Grand Concerto or Essentia E6G multi-room audio systems. I attended NuVo training last week (personal interest) and saw this demonstrated, and it rocks. The cool thing is that the Music Port enables the PC to be a ├ó┬Ç┬£NuVoNet├ó┬Ç┬Ø device, allowing all of the metadata to show up on the keypads throughout the house. It takes the analog outputs from the PC and treats them in as stereo pairs, so 5.1 = 3 streams and 7.1 = 4 streams. It├ó┬Ç┬Öll also include a NuVo branded version of the Media Control Server EX software from Autonomic Controls (http://www.autonomiccontrols.com/) which allows you to browse and select the content from another device (PC, tablet, etc.).

That's interesting.

Also have you heard anything more about the Nuvo-Net adaptor that was announced last year. It's listed on the nuvo webpage, but there is no protocol information that I could find.

thanks,
Nishan

Well, it's nice to see Nuvo do this. I'm sure their installers were asking for it. But it will probably also kill their Music Server device. Perhaps some will like the stand alone feature of the Music Server (no computer to futz with), but the Music Port device will be cheaper and more expandable than the Music Server.

Sorry - I thought you had posted about the adaptor earlier.

Anyway, the adaptor was announced earlier:

It's now listed on the Nuvo webpage:

I don't now if the protocol will be freely available, or only available to their integration "partners". It would be a nice addition for CQC.

How anybody been able to control their Nuvo GC, Essentiation, E6G or whatever from CQC via the Musci Port?

The Music Port eats up the RS232 on the main control, but supposedly you can 'relay' the control via the Comm port on your Music Port PC that connects to the Music Port.

There is a white paper in the Nuvo Prozone on this, but i haven't been able to make it work with their directions.

Anybody got it working?

I haven't gotten it working like that, but I through the port the Music Port software opens up. I modified the Grand Concerto into an IP driver . If you would like to give it a shot, I could package it up for you.

Attached is the Grand Concerto modified to connect via IP. What you'll need is the IP and Network Control Port that the Autonomic Control/Music Port software is on.

This driver does not contain the recent changes that beezlerob made for bjkiller.

Absolutely great...i have spent days trying to get CQC to work with the Music Port and your IP based driver did the trick.

Can the IP capability be rolled into Beelzerons latest developments so we can take advantage of whatever new stuff he's got cooked up in there? If not this is already great, but maybe there's more Music Port users coming around to CQC.

Great great great, many thanks.

Just wanted to mention that i used the newer Nuvo E6G main control and the Grand Concerto driver seems to work for it. I just started playing with it so i don't know if all functions work, but so far the basics seem fine.

I'm glad it's working for you. I think he is going to add IP control into the original driver at some point...
