Actually the list is in the back of the serial protocol manual. It may be elsewhere, but the list in the back of the installation manual isn't the same list I don't think.
Anyway, I have verified that I am sending the correct command, as per the protocol document anyway, for the word speaking stuff. So either the Elk is broken or the protocol document is wrong. Even their example message in the protocol document doesn't work. They give an example for speaking word file 123, and I can see that my sent command comes out exactly like that. So clearly something is wrong other than the driver.
I can send the example phrase command via Hyperterm and it works but hte example word command doesn't, so clearly it's not working right. I have to assume the protocol document is wrong. I'll ask them about it.

OK, they verified that the Say Word stuff is broken in the current firmware versions. It should be fixed in the next firmware release, and they sent me a preview of that firmware that fixes it and I verified that it does work now.

New firmware is out now and it has fixed it as Dean indicated
"Fixed "Say Word" command from an ASCII String command. It was not working."
New firmware is 5.1.8

I am a real newbie with my ELK. What is required to get and install a ELK M1Gold firmware update? I have ElkRP on my master server that I connect with via ethernet. I also have ElkRM, but haven't done much with that.

That page says that firmware upgrades are only available from a password protected "M1 Dealers Only" location on the Elk products site. So I guess DIYers are out of luck.
I got my Elk through our LV installer who got it from Automated Outlet. The LV guy is no Elk expert (ours was his first one, he was more familiar with HAI). But Brandon at AO convinced me that Elk was the way to go and had to provide some help in getting it mostly functional. I have done most of the automation logic myself after he got the security portion installed. So who would be the "M1 Dealer" that would have to get us the firmware upgrade?

Last I remember, all they ask you for on signup is the Serial Number. If you have issues send me a PM and I will get you the firmware.

That is still true - you only need the 6 digit serial number of the ELK. I would recommend registering because not only can you get up to date firmware, they also have a series of training videos that can be very helpful to someone setting up the ELK or using the software for the first time.
The instruction manual can be a little confusing, so it is nice to have someone go through everything and explain it all in plain english. :-)
