Howdy all,
Do you have a receiver that your considering upgrading? Want to help a fellow CQCer out? I'm madly attempting to find a receiver that can be controlled via RS-232 with a budget of just $350. If you have something that you are willing to sell in that range, please let me know.

I'm pretty sure you can get a used Yamaha off eBay for that range. Heck, the new low-end Denon's with RS232 are only ~$400 new.

I'm close to sealing the deal on a used Denon 3805 for $375 shipped, good deal?

considering I paid $800 for mine brand new, that doesn't sound too bad to me.
Have you checked completed eBay auctions to see what the final #s were?

Yes. They go on ebay for between $380 and $450 shipped. I feel slightly better shopping on Audiogon, so I figure $375 is good. I was more wondering from a value standpoint. People seem to like the Denon 3805s here, and there is a working driver, so I'm guessing this is a good route to go. Plus, my Nuvo Essentia is actually 2 zones short, so this can take care of those.

You can go a bit cheaper and get a Denon 3803 (the first with the serial port). I have the 3802 (non serial version) and love it.

I bit the bullet and purchased the 3805. I got it for $375, and managed to sell my current Marantz 4600 for $200, so at a marginal cost of $175, I thought it a worthwhile deal.
