I'm thinking of trying to go to a mac mini for my CQC and need external serial control.... would one of these work?

my guess would be not, it looks like some kind of kvm switch, with a java front end... these are horid if it is, and there's no direct map to the com port, you'd be better off with one of these http://www.usbgear.com/USB-16COM-RM.html

I've had bad luck with USB reliability. I know that Moxa makes one but it is around $1k:-( .
