There are a lot of companies that operate like this (no warranty except through auth dealers). It is designed to help the dealers out and keep people from undercutting them in price.
Keep in mind that a lot of the nicer audio equipment is sold as a low volume high margin/profit items. That makes it easier for someone to get a hold of some stock and sell it for way below the "standard dealer" price.
Voiding the warranties is one way to keep the dealers happy and prevent some people from buying the "gray market" units.
