It was inevitable!!!! :-(
The electrician installed some ceiling speaker conduit beside the ceiling light (220V) conduit. So now I have 2 separate flexible pvc conduit pipes running side by side.
Am I screwed? Will I hear a buzz in the speakers? What are the chances of trouble?
I didn´t decide on the speaker cable yet. By getting bigger/better speaker cable am I reducing the odds of trouble?

You could always use a shielded speaker wire. No gaurantees but it might make a bad situation better or eliminate a problem all together.
I'm sure it costs more but might be worth it.

I never even knew shielded speaker wire existed. Is this standard stuff that Belkin or Monster would have, or is this specialist wire? Great tip. I agree that it may be better insurance at this stage.

This is really helpful. Thank you for digging this up.
The more I read, the more I think I should not accept this and should get the electrician to run totally separated conduit for the speakers - like in the original plan!
I still have a few weeks before things are sealed up forever.

I agree but it's an option! I wasn't sure if the walls were closed. Also, if they were closed, I'd probably pull the basic wire and change those (or have the electrician change them) which are a problem rather than run the expensive stuff everywhere.
Either way it's not ideal and it's an option in a pinch.
