Just for my own interest I started looking into how to read the motherboard sensors, and from what I have learnt, it's a bit of a minefield.
It looks like it's specific to the motherboard type, so each brand will have their own sensor types.
The other thing that seemed to be common comment was the readings were very inaccurate. I don't know why, but in the overclockers community they seem to use an outboard sensor to give a more accurate reeding.
Anyway I havn't learnt much, because there doesn't seem to be much info out there.
Cheers

I know after speedfan is installed it has a .csv file with about 4427 lines of motherboard stuff etc..this is the file below

**I believe the way the Homeseer plugin works is it reads data from .csv and .cfg files located in the speedfan directory, I understand how you might want to not even involve the speedfan program but it might be easier than reinventing the wheel.

Wow! I have come a long way since the first post in this thread. I have written the CML Astrology.com Horoscope driver and am now ready to get into some hardware stuff. I just purchased one of the BetaBrites off ebay for $139 which includes shipping. Thats pretty good since they usually go for about $150+. Now I should be able to try my hands at writing a driver for a real piece of hardware.
My hopes are to write a driver that will allow you to dynamically set the text being displayed. The betabrite has differnt features such as multiple colors and multiple fonts. So I would like to be able to change the fonts and colors on the fly also. I plan to stick mine in my bedroom and use it as a big caller ID and also use it to notify me when I have new e-mails and other things like that.
Oh yeah... Now I have to go tell my wife what i just purchased...

Tell her you got it for your new baby daughter, so she has something pretty to look at. Your wife won't buy it for a second, but hopefully she'll give you points for trying to BS her like you did when you were single.

Somehow this part would be exactly where the whole idea would fall apart at my house........:-?

Whatever you do, don't use the line "I won something on Ebay!!"...they have a knack for realizing you don't usually have to
pay for something you've
won.
