You're right. 40 cents/gb for a out of the box ready NAS solution isn't bad at all. It wasn't too long ago when getting 40 cents/gb was good on just the disk drives - especially drives that big.

WOW, yea they are getting cheaper and cheaper...
But since i have been beta testing Windows Home Server, I pickup up FOUR of these http://shop4.outpost.com/product/4551377 and Added it to my Windows Home Server box, not bad for $400 bucks

Its not NAS, but eSata. you still need a PC for it.
I built my own with 12 drive capability (6TB by todays sizes) Mick

Well I has posted that it was NAS. Sorry for the confusion, I simply did not read the specs close enough. If it is not NAS, then you can still probably build a box cheaper than this, but it is still nice to see the prices come down.

I've been tracking HD prices for quite some time, and they've almost always been .32 or less...typically right around .21 (the above deal is .20/gb) . I wouldn't buy a HD for more than .23/GB.

I see 500 GB drives for $110 or external 500GB for $125 but never under $100??
The 2TB for $800 deal above comes with all the extras..., external case,RAID, eSATA connection, SATA pci-express card so its not just the 4 500 Gig disks. Its a lot cheaper then last year when 2TB was around $1600.

Well, that's true....for a SATA drive, $.20/GB is the lowest I've seen yet. Time to update my dry-erase board.... ...and like all good Fry's deals, by the time you notice it, it's already gone... |
