Any suggestions for sorting an intermittent serial connection beyond prayer or arcane ritual?
I’ve tried the obvious loose connections and rebooting all involved hardware. Still have to try moving to a different port in case my old used Edgeport lost one.
The driver hasn’t been touched in several years and CQC has been rock solid stable for much longer than that. Very frustrating when you try something and it connects and then loses the connection in a few minutes and then reconnects on its own a bit later and then drops back out. Again and again.

What hardware are you trying to control? Is there any way that firmware might have been introduced that gave it new commands to sort through? I had this happen once, and had to use the driver harness to diagnose and then adjusted the driver to handle a response it wasn't expecting.

This sounds like the same issue I am having with my Pentair driver, I just don't have the know how to fix.

No new firmware. The Casablanca hasn’t had a firmware update since it was updated to IV. Same for the Edgeport drivers. The last Win 10 update was a few days back. All was fine Thursday and went funky Friday. The other serial stuff is working fine. Intermittent faults are the worst.
Good point about the driver. I’ll have to check the Log monitor and see if something weird is coming through. Driver hasn’t been touched since the CB IV upgrade so I didn’t think to look. Haven’t changed any settings on the CB either. Log monitor should be a way to tell if some out of range message is coming through. With the driver test harness one has to be able to get the error to come though on demand. Not sure I’m there yet.
Real off the wall thought. This started when I started watching the Expanse last night on Prime Video. Maybe something odd is coming in that the CB doesn’t recognize and it’s putting out an error I didn’t account for. Would be unique to the Expanse as this hasn’t happened with other Prime Video shows.

kblagron, good call. Show is in Dolby Digital Plus. Haven’t found my notes yet but I’m pretty sure that’s one I coded by eye as I didn’t have a test source for that codec. Have to check what it’s sending vs what’s expected.
Tom, sorry but I doubt I can help. Even going into a driver I wrote is a painful experience.
