I just happened to be looking at the Amazon Fire HD tablets with thoughts of getting one to mount on a wall. That's when I came across this deal - a refurbished HD8 tablet WITH the Show Mode Charging Dock for a combo price of $39.99 + tax. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B085K4BVPX/r...=UTF8&th=1. (Be sure to click with "With Free Dock" option).
I have an HD10 with the dock and it is great. The dock is a clam style case that includes a charging mechanism that allows for wireless charging. This means the tablet will charge while sitting on the dock, but always be available to be removed and carried off without having to unplug anything. You won't even notice that the tablet is in the case. It just seems like you are picking up the regular tablet. The dock itself runs between $20 and $30, so to get this and a tablet (even if it is refurbished) for $40 is incredible.
If you don't know already, there is a great tool for basically removing all of the "Amazon" crap on the tablet called the Amazon Fire Tool Box. It can be found on XDA Developers https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd1...0-t3889604 I've used it on multiple tablets without any issues. You can load up the Google Play Store and other Google Services, remove the Amazon Ads, install a normal app launcher, etc, etc. This really makes it easy to have a decent Android tablet without all the Amazon crap.
I just thought I would throw this out there. These tablets can be used with the old Android app or with the WebRiva interface. Obviously 16gb of storage isn't a lot, but if this is for a dedicated CQC interface device, 16gb will be plenty.
If you end up not liking the dock, you can always get these inexpensive wall mounts (which is initially what I was planning on doing). https://makesbymike.com/products/amazon-...wall-mount
PS - it looks like these won't be shipped until June, but I don't think I would wait if you want to get the good pricing. These docks don't work with the current tablet versions with USB-C, so I suspect this is an effort to clean out their stock. Get them while you can!
