Home automation working without the cloud

I think this writer has pegged it.  Companies who market devices that are cloud dependent should be required to provide for local control

Especially in this awful time, redundant local systems are even more important.  Sorry, Alexa, but you're non-essential personnel.

I like it.. I have nothing in my set up that relies on cloud.

With my SMS driver and GSM modem, controlling CQC via SMS is a backup for me in the event that the Internet at my home goes down.
