Door Station / Door Bell
#1
Looking for what others have done for doorbells and or door stations and integration with CQC, if at all. I already have a fisheye camera in the ceiling above the front door so the unit does or does not have to have a camera. Heck, two way talking really is not necessary either come to think of it. I do not have a long driveway with a gate where both audio and video would be warranted.

DoorBird is usually my first suggestion. However if camera and audio are not required then there's some z-wave door bell's that could be used. I doubt a their definitions exist yet so you'd have to send the info to Dean if you went with z-wave.

Is there a preference between z-wave or network? Grandstream also have good doorbell/door stations that can be integrated but again they have cameras and audio and are about the same price wise as DoorBird.

No ZWave so I'll check out the DoorBird which, from looking at the API, seems a viable option.

I do like DoorBird.  GrandStream are also nice and have an API.

I purchased the Elk DoorBell and Telephone Ring Detector some time back and is still in the box.  One day I will look at this and see what it can do.

I've had that on my list for a few years now too.  You're one step ahead of me on that, at least you have the interface... I was toying with maybe just hooking the buttons up to a  zone direct but I guess I'd loose the light up part of the physical button and the existing bell wouldn't work.  I'm assuming there is a transfer/voltage in the loop somewhere.

DoorBird looks amazing but requires Internet so that it can connect to their "Cloud." That is a showstopper for me. Bummer.

What?  Doorbird does NOT require internet for use.  The only time internet is required is to use their mobile App.  If you don't use their mobile app you stream the video/audio to your own system directly on your LAN. You can also use their app on the LAN/Wifi without internet as well. Here's their API info

Cool.  If you don't want video there's a Grandstream model without video.
