And I also figured out in the process why changes to the GC-100/JAP ports wouldn't always show up correctly when you then went to add a driver after saving changes.

I did the 915 install and when I ran the AI I got an error message that said: "The provided name or password was incorrect. Please try again." If you click on OK, you get the regular CQC Login box asking for User Login and Password. I haven't changed my user login or password in 15 years. It's in my environment variables. But I entered it and I got the same error message saying name or password was incorrect. Going back to 914.

Hmmm... No one else has seen that so far, so not sure what is going on in your system that would be different. Is this on the master server where you are running the AI?

Yes and this is the first time I've ever seen it in the 15 years I've been using CQC. I've done at least 200 upgrades over the 15 years, all the same way, so I was surprised too. So at least on my system something changed with the last two attempts to upgrade to 915.

Any time that happens, try Admin/Welcome to see if it has reverted to the default. That would both let you continue and you could tell me that that's what happened (as opposed to some sort of communications issue or something.)

OK, this is getting even more strange. I reran the 916 install. Got the same user name password error as before. Tried to log in as Admin/Welcome and got in. Thought we were good but as it turned out very little survived the upgrade. The port assignments were no longer there. None of my Users were there except for Admin. Events appeared to be there. Images, Interfaces and Macros all appeared to be there. But no Devices. If you right click on Devices, everything is grayed out except "Add on Server". If you click on that, my MS name does appear and it would let you try to add a device to that server but none of my previously installed drivers are there. Going back to 914 again. Hope this helps.

Everyone will be out of the house tomorrow and at that time I will give the upgrade a try as I have a good mix of things.

What version are you coming from? Once you get back to 914, stop the MS, go to [cqc]\CQCData\Repository\, zip up the CIDCfgSrvRepo.CIDObjSTore file and send it to me. All the stuff that got lost is stuff in there that is getting moved around to other repository files. So there must be some problem reading the original or getting the data stored away in its new location.

I've been on 914 for months. Whenever it came out. BTW, this latest problem didn't occur when I went from 914 to 915. 915 had the problem with the GC and JAP ports. This problem occurs when going from 914 to 916 and 916 was supposed to fix the port problem. So it seems like the problem was introduced with the fix for the port problem or whatever else was fixed with 916.
