The plumbing changers were to factor out common functionality that are in all of the CQC servers for start up and shutdown, and put them in a common base framework class, which makes sure things always happen in the same order and handles almost all of that work itself, but allowing each server to customize where needed.
Though that work seems to be doing fine, and is ultimately a significant simplification, it is a substantial change and it's possible you might see an issue of some sort.
