Bond Controller API
#1
Hi Dean,

Bond a controller for fans & fireplaces has published their API in beta form right now. This would be an awesome driver addition, how does the API look?

It looks fairly reasonable.

Dean,

This would be a good driver to have. The Bond device can control IR and RF devices. I have three fans with lights all controlled through the bond with my Amazon Echos. It would be good to get this in a CQC environment.

Not really practical until someone has one that they can open up for me.

Dean,

I can do that, I have 1 fan / light controlled by a Bond. It will be tomorrow evening before I can get to it. Let me know and I'll PM you the details.

Let's plan for early next week, to give me time to prep for it. I can get the driver roughed in and not waste connected time.

I was just looking through that again. I'm not sure that's far enough along to be worth doing. There's no feedback, and only the low level commands are supported. It looks like the only outgoing thing supported is the Transmit Command command, which doesn't seem very useful on its own. The higher level (not supported yet) commands do the useful stuff, particularly in this case where the things are IR based and so they try to track the current state and such.

You might be as well off in the short term just invoking something like curl to send those basic commands to do the bits you want.

BTW, if you want to play around with some commands, there is already a:

System::HTTPGet

command that will let you send a simple GET HTTP get command. Since the stuff they do support doesn't include any body text or anything, that would probably work and let you send out commands of that sort from actions.

Since the commands have names, create a global action that takes a name parameter, and just plugs it into the URL parameter of the GET command. Then you just invoke the global action with a command and the details are all in one place.
