Alexa Notifications

I've searched through the threads and could not find any updated info on Alexa Push Notifications.  The last was from Dean on a closed thread: 

Given how much they change things even after it's official, I'll wait until it's official before looking into this. I don't want to be chasing the spec. And this will require stuff on the AWS side which would mean everyone would be chasing changes not just me.

Has any headway been made or tried with this?  I am always looking for less interactions with my system since the family doesn't want to learn it.

Starting to hear of many others using the new feature. Ring was the last one I heard about. CQC is a natural fit for Alexa notifications so definitely looking forward to it.

On a slightly related topic - I heard that the echo was going to support local control for when the internet was not available to an echo device - Can any of this be leveraged with the echo and CQC - I cant use my echo at the moment because I can do port forwarding into my CQC server. Every other echo enabled device works, just not CQC.

I can't imagine how that's going to work. They depend fundamentally on their servers for speech recognition.

The notifications system still isn't generally available. You have to sign up and ask them to approve you. They likely won't since we aren't Dominos or whatever, and you have to give out info to some random survey site as well. Actually, I saw a post on their developer form from Oct 1 that they aren't taking any applications now. Presumably that means it will be opened up before long. When they open it up, I'll look look at it.
